FRIDAY, MAY 1
 
Baseball, Rose-Hulman vs. Defiance
6 p.m., Art Nehf Field
The Engineers will host a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game against Defiance College. Come cheer on the Engineers. Admission is free. No reservations necessary.

Drama Club Musical, “The Wizard of Oz”
7:30 p.m. Hatfield Hall Theater

Comedian Michael Palascak
8:00 p.m., Kahn Rooms, Hulman Union
A 20-something comedian from the Midwest, Michael draws from his lifelong experiences of living at home with his parents, residence hall life and frequent trips to Dunkin’ Donuts. Michael has performed at clubs and colleges around the country, including the world famous Improv. There is no charge, but seating is limited to 300 persons.
  
Astronomy Club Open House
9:30-11:30 p.m., Oakley Observatory, Off Hunt Road, East of Campus (weather permitting)
Help the Astronomy Club celebrate the International Year of Astronomy and 400th anniversary of the first recorded astronomical observations with a telescope, made by Galileo Galilei. Tour the Oakley Observatory and Lynn Reeder Laboratory. No reservations are necessary.
    
Directions To Observatory: Go east on U.S. 40 from the campus’ main entrance to the first stop light. Turn north on Hunt Road. The observatory is the first gravel road on the left.
    
Also, for your viewing pleasure, the astronomy art display, “From Earth to the Universe,” can be viewed in the lower level of Moench Hall. There are dozens of images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and many other observatories in this display. View these spectacular images at your pleasure while you take personal campus tours.
 
SATURDAY, MAY 2
Parents’ Association Meeting
8 a.m., Faculty/Staff Dining Room, Hulman Union
Parents are encouraged to help the Parents’ Association plan future events and discuss issues important to Rose-Hulman. No reservations are necessary, but we would like to have a preliminary count on those parents planning to attend.

Bookstore Open For Gift Buyers
9 a.m.-5 p.m., Lower Level, Hulman Union
Rose-Hulman’s bookstore is well-stocked with commencement gift ideas and other special mementos for those parents who want to make purchases.

Mom’s Day Information Booth
9:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Lobby, Hulman Union
The Parents’ Association booth will be the place to jump start your day with coffee and fellowship, get your Mom’s Day button and obtain information about the day’s activities.

Chair Massages for Mom
10 a.m. to Noon/1-5 p.m., Reading Room, Hulman Union
Mothers can enjoy a free, relaxing 15-minute personal chair massage session -- by appointment.  Sign up at the Mom’s Day Information Booth in the Hulman Union Lobby.

* Networking 101: “Your Student’s Future”
  9-9:50 a.m., Kahn Rooms, Hulman Union
Kevin Hewerdine, Director of Career Services and Employer Relations, will recap the company recruiting year, services offered by the Office of Career Services and offer advice to parents about how to help their student become proactive in their career planning. Limited to 300 persons.
   
* “From Magic to Miracles: A Dramatic Romp through the History of
     Chemistry”
  10-10:50 a.m., Room E-104, Moench Hall
Dr. David Erwin, Associate Professor of Chemistry, will offer a lighthearted look at chemistry by performing various visual displays, demonstrations and experiments that follow its development from the days of alchemy to the present. Seating is Limited to 150 persons This session is full.
   
* Simply Marvelous
  11-11:50 a.m., Faculty Dining Room, Hulman Union
Create marvelous dishes from simple everyday ingredients. This demonstration will be led by ARAMARK Chef Pat Kelley, Catering Director Ryan Rogers and Food Production Manager Pam Fainot. Seating is limited to 70 persons –  This session is full.
   

Model Railroad Demonstrations
10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Music Room, Hulman Union
Stop and see the club’s latest layout. Trains will be running throughout the demonstration period. No reservations are necessary.

Mom’s Day Brunch
11a.m.-1 p.m.,
Vonderschmitt Dining Room, Hulman Union
Enjoy a leisurely lunch on campus, just like the students. Cost: $5.00 per person. No reservations required—pay at the door.


Baseball, Rose-Hulman vs. Defiance
Starting at Noon, Art Nehf Field
The Engineers will host a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader against rival Defiance College. Just show up and catch a few innings or both games of this important series. Admission is free.

“The Price Is Rite”
3 p.m., Kahn Rooms, Hulman Union
Come on down! The Student Activities Board will host its popular game show, with selected parents given the chance to win fabulous prizes in fun-filled games — just like the real thing! There is no charge, but seating is limited to 300 persons.

Mom's Day Dinner
5-6:30 p.m., Vonderschmitt Dining Room, Hulman Union

Families of Rose-Hulman students will be treated to a special dinner.
       The meal will include:

Coffee/Tea/Water
  Pesto Potatoes
Fresh Vanilla Pudding with Fruit

Each dinner costs $18.00 per adult and RHIT student; $9.00 for children (11-3 years old); and free for children under 3 years old. Reservations required.
 
  President Speaking
    President Gerald Jakubowski will update parents on what’s been happening on campus.
     
  Jazz Band Performing
    The Rose-Hulman Jazz Band, directed by Gary Turner, will set the mood for the evening with popular jazz selections.
     
  Honoring A Special Woman
    The Parents’ Association will present the Joy Hulbert Outstanding Service Award to a woman who demonstrates support to the college and its students.

Drama Club Musical, “The Wizard of Oz”

7:30 p.m., Hatfield Hall Theater
Rose-Hulman students will showcase their musical, dramatic and dancing talents while telling the story of Dorothy and her pet dog, kidnapped by a twister and set down somewhere in the land of the Munchkins. There, they meet the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion, and together with their new friends, they set off to find the Wizard in the Emerald City of Oz. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for youths and non-RHIT students and free for RHIT students. Reservations required.

Ticket Information: Tickets are $15 for all guests, $12 for non-RHIT students and youths, and free for RHIT students. Reservations required, with seating being reserved.
 
There will be no guarantees of a ticket without a reservation!
(The play is also being performed on Friday, May 1 and Sunday, May 3)
