Professor of Physics, Indiana Institute of Technology

My career interest in college was as a Physics major, but I discovered that the amount of extra work involved in obtaining a second degree in Math was not prohibitive, so I did so. I then attended graduate school in Physics, and having that extensive Math background helped a lot.  Not just the calculus and differential equations which you would expect to need in Physics, but also the abstract algebra: believe it or not, group theory gets used for a LOT of things.  And combinatorics is useful in just about everything.  Every wonder what the real odds are in a lottery?
