Position:
Tenure-track position as Assistant
Professor of English, with a
specialization in technical
communication, professional writing,
rhetoric/composition, or related field.
Additional strengths in disciplines
other than English and fields other than
literature are especially welcome. The
position begins August 2007. The
successful candidate will be part of a
multidisciplinary Department of
Humanities and Social Sciences.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. required by start date. A strong
commitment to and experience in
undergraduate teaching, as well as
evidence of scholarly activity, are
essential.
School:
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is a
private college of engineering,
mathematics, and sciences with 1,8o0
undergraduate students. There is a
small, but growing major in economics
and students may also minor in
economics. The median entering student
has combined scores of 1300 on the SAT
and 30 on the ACT. For eight years in a
row, U.S. News and World Report has
ranked Rose-Hulman first among those
U.S. engineering colleges that do not
offer a doctorate degree. It is
financially sound, with an endowment of
$186 million. Rose-Hulman is noted for

Description:
The position requires teaching technical
communication, as well as developing
elective courses in the candidate’s
areas of interest suitable for
undergraduate non-majors. Humanities and
Social Sciences faculty work closely
with one another within and across
traditional disciplinary boundaries and
with the wider group of
engineering/science faculty.
