Professional Judgment Request
Since
financial need for the 2009-2010 academic year is based upon 2008
financial data, we realize that situations can change after the
filing of the FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA. Adjustments may be made and
the need recalculated in certain situations if documentation of the
following circumstances is provided to our office.
1.
Uninsured medical and dental expenses in excess of the
federally calculated allowance.
2.
A dependent student's parent or independent student and/or
spouse who had earnings during 2008 has been unemployed for at
least 10 weeks during 2009.
3.
A dependent student's parent or independent student and/or
spouse who had earnings during 2008 has not been able to earn money
as usual for at least 10 weeks during 2009, due to a
disability or natural disaster.
4.
A parent or student received untaxed income or benefits
during 2008 but completely or partially lost that income or benefits
in 2009.
5.
A dependent student's parents separated or divorced, or a
parent died after the 2009-2010 FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA was filed or
an independent student separated or divorced, or the student's
spouse died after the FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA was filed.
6.
The payment of parochial or private school tuition for
elementary or secondary school for dependent children within the
household.
If you meet
one of the above listed criteria or have other situations which you
would like us to review, please contact our office and ask for a
Professional Judgment Request form to be mailed to you or you can
print the form from our website at
Professional Judgment Form (PDF).
This form must be completed, signed and returned with all required
documentation before your request can be processed.
Professional Judgment requests for prospective new students will be
reviewed once the enrollment deposit has been submitted to hold the
student’s place in the Freshman class.
