Presidential Search Committee Evaluates Applicants

The national search process to identify individuals to be candidates for the presidency of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has resulted in 142 persons being nominated or submitting an application.

The 19-member committee and search consultant Bill Funk of Korn/Ferry International have contacted hundreds of possible candidates, education officials and academic organizations to identify persons who would be the best candidates to serve as the new president.

The committee has conducted three meetings since November to discuss progress to identify nominees and to begin evaluation of 44 active candidates, according to Bill Fenoglio, chairman of the Search Committee and a trustee.

“The Presidential Search Committee has reduced the list of active candidates to seven. Those candidates will be interviewed by the committee in late January,” Fenoglio said.

Following those interviews, the field of candidates will be reduced to the finalists who will visit Rose-Hulman and meet with the campus community, trustees, alumni and representatives of the Terre Haute community. The finalists will also be interviewed during the winter meeting of the trustees in late February.

"It is vital that every segment of the Rose-Hulman community be given an opportunity to evaluate the final candidates and provide their input to the board before a decision is reached," Fenoglio stated.

The process to select a new Rose-Hulman president will hopefully be completed in March, he said.
