Hulbert receives award for service and professional contributions

President Samuel Hulbert was honored Dec. 7 by Hospice of the Wabash Valley for his contributions to the Terre Haute community and for his work to advance the field of biomedical engineering. Hulbert received the Chapman S. Root Award which is presented at the Hospice of the Wabash Valley’s annual fund-raising dinner.
Hospice honored Hulbert because of his volunteer leadership as a board member for many local community organizations, and for his pioneering work in the field of biomedical engineering. Hulbert is internationally known for his work to use ceramics to create artificial knees, hips, and dental prostheses. He has been honored by American and European medical societies for his contributions to biomedical engineering.

Hulbert is serving in his 25th year as the 11th president of Rose-Hulman.
