Rose-Hulman receives $40,000 from General Motors
A $40,000 donation to Rose-Hulman from the General Motors Corp. will provide
scholarships, laptop computers and help recruit students from under- represented groups,
according to Chet Huber, president of the GM OnStar program and the corporations key
executive for Rose-Hulman.
The gift renews four General Motors scholarships that will be awarded to academically
talented minority and/or women students. In addition to the scholarships, the students
will receive a $1,500 educational technology stipend and a paid summer internship or co-op
experience at a General Motors facility.
Ten students will receive General Motors meritorious stipends to cover the costs of a
laptop computer and educational software.
The corporations donation will create scholarships for high-school students from
under-represented groups to attend Rose-Hulmans Operation Catapult program, a
three-week, summer session in which high-school seniors work in teams with Rose-Hulman
faculty to complete an engineering, science, math or computer science project.
As a GM key executive designated college, Rose-Hulman is among a select group of higher
education institutions selected by GM for recruiting future employees and providing
financial support.
