Winter 2000

Alumni office active

Alumni Director Brian Dyer reports an active fall for Rose-Hulman alumni. President Samuel Hulbert spoke to 28 alumni at a September luncheon in Bloomington. Also in September, Dyer met with alumni in Fort Wayne to restart that club.

Our Detroit club had its annual golf outing on September 16. Twenty six alumni played golf and attended dinner afterward. Kevin Hewerdine, our new career services director, updated the group about his office.

The date for Homecoming 2001 year is September 14-15. This is earlier than normal, due to the Formula One race in Indianapolis date change and several other big events in and around Terre Haute.

Dr. and Mrs. Hulbert attended a luncheon with more than 20 alumni and their familiers in San Antonio, Texas, on October 22. After identifying a new coordinator in Fort Wayne, 20 alumni attended a lunch meeting on November 14.

Civil engineering was the featured department at a luncheon attended by 35 CE graduates in Indianapolis Dec. 6. The meeting was the first of a series of programs that will feature individual academic departments. The program featured brief updates from civil engineering faculty and department head Jim McKinney. Also attending the luncheon were members of the award-winning Rose-Hulman ASCE student chapter and members of the Student Alumni Association.
