Cain earns two
All-American awards



    Rose-Hulman senior left-hander Andy Cain was named a third-team academic All- American and a second team Division III All-American after a record-setting season on the mound last spring.
    Cain was voted to the GTE/CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) College Division Academic All-America Baseball Team, becoming the 47th Academic All-American at Rose-Hulman since 1978.
    This marks the fourth consecutive season that a Rose-Hulman baseball player has been named an academic All-American.
    Cain was named a second-team Division III All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association and was also named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year last spring.
    Cain established Rose-Hulman single-season records for strikeouts (132), innings pitched (127), complete games (15), wins (14) and earned run average (1.42) this season. He earned SCAC Pitcher of the Week honors five times in 1999.
    Cain tossed five shutouts in 1999. He holds Rose-Hulman career records for earned run average (1.99), complete games (31) and innings pitched (312.3). Cain finished his career ranked second in career wins (28), saves (4) and strikeouts (258).
