Why did you come to Rose-Hulman?
I had never
heard of Rose-Hulman until I received an application for
admissions in the mail during my senior year in high school.
My visit the campus
confirmed the idea that Rose-Hulman was the place for me.
The small campus environment with state of the art
facilities was enough to entice me to choose to attend the
school, but I had no idea that so many invaluable
opportunities awaited me.
What make
Rose-Hulman Great?
The quality of education at
Rose-Hulman is phenomenal. The significant lab emphasis
provides the chance to gain concrete knowledge to supplement
theoretical information, and the small classroom size allows
the ability to easily clarify any concepts that are unclear
through classroom or lab instruction. The professors make
Rose-Hulman such a great place as their doors are always
open to a student who they surely know by name. A genuine
interest in the students is shared by all staff, not just
the faculty. A mutual respect is present amongst all members
of the campus community which creates an environment
conducive to focused learning and personal growth.
My interest in science led
me to explore an Applied Biology Degree with an additional
major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The Applied
Biology program is structured such that it utilizes an
approach similar to engineering in which students are taught
not only the method behind scientific research, but also
taught to think critically in order to be proactive in
applying the results. The availability of the second major
in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology helps to extend my
knowledge into an area which unites biology and chemistry.
Rose-Hulman offers almost
endless opportunities for each student to supplement his or
her education and skills through activities they enjoy.
Campus groups in areas such as performing arts, sports,
technology, professionalism, philanthropy, politics,
religion, culture and engineering allow students to have fun
and also gain skills in teamwork, leadership, organization
and creativity. Learning these skills alongside the formal
education students are earning helps to further the
well-rounded nature of Rose-Hulman students and prepare them
to become an asset to any career they pursue. |
