My Expectations

ECE200 will increase your technical knowledge and skills, and will also provide you opportunities to practice the profession of engineering:

bullet

I expect professionalism in your conduct, both in the classroom and in the lab

bullet

I expect professionalism in your written work -- strive for neat and orderly presentation of your work

RHIT Honor Code As Applied to ECE200

bulletWork that you submit for individual grading is entirely your own effort
bulletWork that you submit for group grading is the result of equally shared effort
bulletPlagiarized work will result in a minimum penalty of zero credit for the work in question, and may result in a maximum penalty of a failing course grade

Grade Components

Exams (3) 45 %
Final Exam 20 %
Prelabs 10 %
Lab notebook 10 %
Lab test 5 %
Homework 10 %

bulletLetter grades are determined from course score according to a straight percentage (A:90%, B+:85%, B:80%, C+:75%, C:70%, D+:65%, D:60%)
bulletThe final exam score must be at a passing level (i.e., ≥ 60%) in order to pass the course
bulletAll lab work (prelabs, lab notebooks, lab report) must be submitted in order to pass the course

Exams

bullet

Final exam is comprehensive.

bulletPlease make every effort to be present during the scheduled exam time. Talk with me before an exam if you have a conflict so that suitable arrangements can be made. Unexcused absence from an exam will result in zero credit.

Homework

bulletHomework problems give you necessary practice with the course material, and it is expected that you possess sufficient self-motivation to work all homework problems assigned.
bulletAs of Day 6-1, the problems on the Examples page will be the "assigned problems." See the Schedule page for the problem assignment schedule.
bulletHomework problem sets will be not be required to be submitted for grading provided each of your exam scores is 80 or higher. If you earn a score lower than 80 on any exam, then homework problem sets must be submitted from then on until the next exam.
bulletWhen you are required to submit homework problem sets, the following policies are in force:
bullethomework problem sets are an individual effort (individual grade)
bullethomework problem sets are due at the beginning of the next class day on which they are assigned.
bulletproblem sets that are late or that do not conform to the ECE Homework Format will be returned ungraded.
bulletYour homework grade for the course will be determined based on the actual number of problems that you are required to submit.

Labs

bullet

Lab is a group effort (group grade)

bullet

The instructor may occasionally reorganize the lab groups.

bullet

Each partner must obtain a lab book.

bullet

Do the prelab work in your lab notebook. Submit a photocopy of your prelab lab book pages at the beginning of class the day before lab.

bullet

For each lab, one partner in the lab group will maintain the lab book work while the other partner performs the experimental work. These duties must rotate for each lab. Clearly identify who maintained the lab book on each lab.

bullet

Lab books will be collected at the end of the lab period.
