CSSE 413: AI Presentation
In order to get a sense of the breadth of AI, as well as of current
research in this field, select and present a research article, a
research project, or an interesting AI application.
Topics
Use Google as well as the listing below to identify a current AI
project. Identify resources such as papers, demos or other multi-media
sources that you can use to build your presentation.
In order to avoid duplication, please pass your project proposal by
me.
Organizational Aspects
- Work on the project in pairs.
- Select a partner and a topic by class time on day 12. If more than
one group proposes to investigate the same research project, the first
one to do so will receive permission to present it.
- You have to give a 15 minute class presentation give or take a few
minutes, followed by 5 minutes of discussion.
- In addition, you have to write a concise and well-written review of the
research project, complete with references.
- The review is due on the day of your scheduled presentation at the
beginning of class. Three pages!
- Presentations will be scheduled through out the remainder of the
term, beginning in week 5. Feel free to indicate in your proposal
whether you prefer an early presentation.
Contents
- Your presentation should begin with a brief introduction, stating
the aim of the work and how it fits into the AI landscape.
- You should then summarize the main contributions of the work.
- Demonstrate existing software, if available and accessible. You may
wish to contact the principle investigator for this purpose.
- Please use diagrams and other visual aids available on the
web-site or papers to help the audience understand the work done. Also
give a good example or two of the work they have done.
- Additionally, please address the following issues.
- Does the project use searching? If so what kind of searching and where?
- What formalism is used to present knowledge?
- Why is this an AI project, instead of, say, an interesting data-structures project?
- What do you see as a pittfall in this project?
- How would you extend this work?
- Finish the presentation with a short evaluation of the
contribution made; focus on its significance.
