Peer Reviews for LightsOut --- Instructions

Goal of this exercise:

• Help you see the variety of designs and implementations possible in LightsOut.

  • You get to see other students' projects.

• Help you improve your own ability to write documentation and clear, correct code.

  • It is much easier to think about issues of clarity and readability when you are dealing with unfamiliar code.
    • Things that you wrote will almost always seem clear to you.

• Give you lots of useful feedback on your LightsOut project.

  • You will get feedback from multiple perspectives instead of only from a grader.

What is a peer review?

How to do this peer review

1. Determine whose projects you should review, for what. Use the following algorithm to determine the materials to be reviewed.
   1. Look at the student roster for your section.
   2. Perform the review of correctness for the person who is listed after you.
   3. If necessary, wrap around to the beginning of the list.

2. Please make your project available to the person who is peer reviewing it for you.

3. Do your reviews by filling out the following form:

Why you MUST do your peer reviews

1. Doing your peer review is part of the assignment. You will receive full credit for your peer review if
   • You turn in the evaluation on time
   • It appears that you made a conscientious effort.
     • One indication of a substandard effort is if there is a glaring error or a major style issue that is found by the other reviewers but not by you.
       • Note the presence of the words glaring and major here.
