Abel Streight’s Raid across northern Alabama.

Thursday, June 29-- Depart half hour earlier, 8:00 a.m., with Morris and Danny as on-board guides for tour of Streight’s Raid.  Our tour takes us from the opening action at Battleground in Cullman County, then dropping southeast across the mountains, through Johnson City, Hanceville, and on to Blountsville, where we will have a box lunch.  From Blountsville, we will journey to Walnut Grove, traverse the passage down Sand Mountain, and then enter Gadsden.  We will turn northeast through the little hamlets of Leesburg and Cedar Bluff, finishing near the Georgia-Alabama border.  Upon returning to Cullman, after dinner, we will hear Morris’s talk about Grierson’s Raid.  Second night at the Comfort Inn, Cullman, Alabama.
