The Rose-Hulman Chemistry Department is pleased to offer Synthetic Polymer Chemistry, a class designed for junior and senior chemistry and chemical engineering majors. It will be taught Winter quarter by Dr. Bruce Allison.

CHEM 457 Synthetic Polymer Chemistry 4R-0L-4C Pre: CHEM 252
This course covers the fundamentals of polymer synthesis, reactions, and applications. The major focus is the organic chemistry of polymer synthesis and modification. Also included in the curriculum is the design of polymer systems that meet certain performance criteria or have desirable physical properties.  A synthesis for a new high refractive index polycarbonate is shown below.
