Campus Prepares to Host 3rd Largest Winter Fair

On Wednesday, January 27th, Career Services and the student-run career fair team will be hosting over 80 companies for the annual winter career fair. This event, held in the SRC from 11am to 4pm, is for any student looking for full-time, intern or co-op opportunities. Please be sure to stop by and visit these companies and welcome them to campus! The company list will continue to be updated this week as additional companies register, so check back often!

Career Bootcamp 2010: bookcamp2009.jpgJanuary 25th

Do you have your resume prepped and ready to be seen by recruiters at the Winter Career Fair on January 27th? Do you know how you plan to introduce yourself and sell yourself as someone that companies will want to hire?

 

Stop by our 2010 Career Bootcamp on Monday, January 25th from 11am to 2pm in the Union Kahn Room. Not only will we have free food, but we’ll have stations set up to meet with Career Services staff members and Peer Advisors for 5 minute resume reviews and prep sessions to help you craft your personal introduction. Stop by with your career-related questions, and enter our drawing for $25.00 in Subway cash, too!

 

50 Internships Available through Entrepreneurial and Biomedical programs

This summer, 50 students will be GUARANTEED an internship through the Career Services EIP program. 29 companies from all over the state of Indiana have been accepted to participate, thanks to a grant from the Lilly Foundation. 10 of the companies will be specifically targeting biomedical engineering majors, while the other 19 will be looking for most other majors. Many of these companies will be starting their candidate search through the Winter Career Fair.  They will also be posting their positions in eRecruiting, so keep watching for an opportunity that fits your major!

Boston Scientific Shares Interview Tips

BostonScientific.JPGDo you have a “30-second sales pitch” ready for the career fair? Are you confident you can answer well-rounded interview questions using the STAR technique? If not, then you definitely need to attend the Boston Scientific workshop the night before the winter career fair! Reps from the company will be providing interview advice and tips for how to make easier introductions at the career fair.

ArcelorMittal to Sponsor 5 Browns & Host Valentine Event on February 12th

Representatives and alumni from ArcelorMittal will be on campus Feburary 12th for ArcelorMittal.jpgthe 5 Browns classical piano show. They are sponsoring that show, and will also be working with Career Services to plan a Valentine themed event prior to the performance. Be watching for more details about this fun gathering!

 

Peer Advisors Plan Outreach Workshops

Would you like to have a resume critique session for your campus organization or residence hall floor? Perhaps your group just needs general information about the services our office has available? If you or your organization would like for a Peer Advisor to come and present a program or workshop, please be in contact with us! We have presentations on resume development, general job search strategies, and general Career Services information. We’d be happy to schedule a time to visit your organization!
