September 11, 2009 And we’re off! The office of Career Services is
ready for a great year and we hope you are, too! We think the 2009-2010 year
will be a great one, and we have a lot of services and events planned to
help you with every step in your job search or graduate school process.
Since this is our first eNews issue of the year, we want to highlight some
things we think you might want to take advantage of. Read on… Senior Seminar Challenge! Earlier this week seniors should
have gotten
The Challenge: To be the major with the largest percentage of
SENIORS attending a senior seminar workshop. The major with the largest
percentage of seniors that attend will have a special prize drawing. The Prizes: A GPS Unit, 10 free Subway lunches, 10 free Rose-Hulman
dress shirts. How to Win: You must be a senior, and attend a Senior Seminar
Workshop. Be sure to sign in when you’re there. It’s really that simple! Networking Opportunity with Rockwell
Collins
A Invaluable Tool: Peer Advisors We have 4 students that we think
you ought to know: our 2009-2010 Peer Advisors! These are upperclass
students that have excellent work experiences and have been hired
specifically to assist other students by providing career-related mentoring
and advice. Check
their
page of the website to see when they’re working and drop by. They have
evening hours and will soon start popping up in other locations around
campus, offering to review resumes and talk about searching for jobs.
They’re trained to use eRecruiting and Linked In, and will be doing great
outreach events this year! In fact, watch for an Outreach program the last
week of this month!

compiling photo galleries of our students at work, and we need your help! If
you took pictures during your summer internship or research experience, or
during your co-op assignment, please share them with us! We would love to
see pictures of you at work, or around your work environment. Please be sure
that it is okay to share pictures of your employer’s work space, and then
email Charity Mouck at
cmouck@rose-hulman.edu
to share your pictures with us. Once we have a few more albums, we will link
them on our website so that everyone can see all of the different work
experiences that our students participate in. ASME & IEEE College Resume Workshops ASME Central Indiana Section, and
IEEE Central Indiana Section have partnered to present a series of resume
workshops as outreach events at Indiana Colleges during the month of
September. This unique
opportunity pairs high potential students with area professionals for
one-on-one mentoring with respect to resume preparation, job searching
tactics, and interviewing skills.
ASME and IEEE Connecting with Career Services This year we’ve tried to make it
easier than ever to get connected with Career Services. We’ve branched out
into several areas of social media in an effort to provide timely content in
an easy to access format. Click the buttons below to watch our videos on
