Thank you for your interest in
joining the 2009-2010 Career Fair team! As a team member, you will be
assigned to a committee to work on to produce the three career
fairs in the 2009-2010 school year: October 7th, January 27th and
April 21st.
If you have additional questions, please contact one of the 2009-2010
Career Fair Co-Chairs: Erinn Sheridan or
Kreigh Williams.
In addition to assisting on the day of each career fair, you will be
on a committee whose responsibilities are described below:
Recruitment Committee
Company Contact: Cold call
companies that have attended the (fall, winter, spring)
career fairs in years past but failed to sign up yet.
These calls should be made by team members in the Career
Services Office and should be signed off by members at
the time of calling. Team members should be comfortable
cold calling even though scripts and resources will be
available.
Tech Committee
Booth Layout: Managing the layout so that all the
companies have adequate space, and electricity if
needed. It is also necessary to attend to any special
requests made by companies. The night prior to the Fall
Career Fair, the Tech committee will be responsible for
supervising booth setup.
Parking: Work with the Office of Public Safety to
ensure that parking is well organized and posted.
Drop Off: Organize drop off of packages on the
morning of fairs to ensure order and consistency.
Signs: The tech committee will be charged with
posting the outdoor career fair signs around campus.
Tables: For Winter and Spring Career Fairs, where
a boothing company is not used, tech committee will be
responsible for finishing table setup on the morning of
the fair. This involves spreading table cloths and
re-spacing tables as necessary.
Publicity Committee
Shirts: Redesign logo for shirts (or use the same
from previous year), pick a shirt color, gather sizes
for student workers and for company representatives,
pick a shirt style, order extra of all sizes for last
minute changes, pick up shirts in Career Services office
for handout at set up the night before Fall fair, print
off a list of the sizes and bring it with you to the SRC,
contact Rick Bagnoche for shirts.
Keep shirts ~ $20 or less
Publicity: Publicity for the event through
emails, CM boxes, posters/signs in the Commons and in
the Union, flyers in residence halls and academic
buildings, or other new ideas for publications, do
publishing 1 AND 2 weeks before the Career Fair.
Documentation Committee
Company Booklet: Proof read website information.
Create booklets from website, fixing any formatting
errors. Send a copy to Co-Chairs when completed.
Co-Chairs forward a copy to the print shop and to
Charity Mouck. Pick up the booklets on the mornings of
the career fairs and take them to the fair.
Nametags: Put together company and career fair
team nametags. Attend folder stuffing and nametag
parties.
Website: Create/maintain an interactive web page
for students to use to search the companies. Use the
website to keep company information updated and to
create the company booklet for the career fairs.
Employer Relations
Committee
Hospitality: Take around beverages to companies
during the career fairs.
Employer Packet: Gather welcome letter, agenda,
worker resumes, campus map (check with admissions), and
any other needed Rose info. Organize and attend folder
stuffing and nametag parties.
Day of Fair Tours: Give tours to interested
company representatives at specified times on the days
of the career fairs. Be available to help companies
unload efficiently the morning of the career fair.
Door Prizes: Purchase door prizes (Fall fair
only) and facilitate giveaway of items at Fall fair
welcome event.
