Blue Key at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Blue Key organizes three main events during the school year, for the purpose of contributing to the improvement of campus life. Homecoming Pep Rally & Queen Competition Blue Key hosts and organizes the Homecoming Pep Rally and Queen Competition. Student-Faculty Dialogue The Student-Faculty Dialogue (SFD) is an event hosted once a year by Blue Key Honor Society, and will take place on January 28. The purpose of the dialogue is to create a forum for discussion between faculty and staff and members of Blue Key. Blue Key members research a range of topics that they feel could improve student life at Rose-Hulman. These topics are presented to the relevant faculty and staff, who provide feedback and can use student proposals. This year, Blue Key would like to invite all students with specific ideas for improvement to submit them via Banner Web for a chance to be selected as a SFD topic. Topics that have been discussed and resolved in the past include: (1)Extending available time to complete course evaluations, (2)Addition of wireless internet to the Subway Café, (3)Encouraging more widespread use of ANGEL among faculty, and (4) Changing parking passes from stickers to window clings. Youth Science Day Youth Science Day (YSD) is an event hosted to foster interest in science & mathematics among youth. Hosted during one day in the spring quarter, Blue Key invites classes from nearby elementary and middle schools to participate in an interactive day of learning. Various Rose-Hulman student groups present displays on science and engineering topics and engage the youth in hands-on participation & discussion. |
