RICHMOND, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology moved within one win of earning a share of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball regular season championship with a 25-15, 25-12, 25-11 win at Earlham College on Wednesday night.

The victory, combined with a loss by Transylvania to Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday night, vaults Rose-Hulman to 6-2 on the conference season and within one-half game of first place in the HCAC standings.

Hanover and Mount St. Joseph have completed the regular season at 7-2 in league play and will earn a share of the conference championship.  Rose-Hulman would join them at 7-2 in league play with a victory over Defiance on Saturday at Hulbert Arena. 

Bluffton and Transylvania are each 6-2 in league play and could help form a historic five-way tie for first place in the conference standings with wins on Saturday.

Junior Anna Lewer (Indianapolis/Lutheran) paced the Rose-Hulman performance with 11 kills.  Senior Morgan Williams (Fenton, Mich./Powers Catholic) and sophomore Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) added eight kills each, with Williams pitching in with three solo blocks.

Senior Leah Pelzel (Loveland, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) recorded team-high totals of 21 assists, 15 digs and five service aces.  Senior Karah Hickman (Hobart) added six kills in nine attacks with two solo blocks.

Rose-Hulman improved to 19-8 overall and 6-2 in HCAC play, while Earlham finished the season at 3-24 and 0-9 in conference matches.
