HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology secured the No.
3 seed for next week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference
Volleyball Tournament with a three-set win over Earlham on
Wednesday night.
The Fightin' Engineers swept the Quakers 25-15, 25-17, 25-14 to finish the HCAC regular season at 7-2 overall.
Rose-Hulman will host No. 6 seed Bluffton University on Tuesday October 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Hulbert Arena in the first round of the HCAC Tournament. The winner will advance to a 5 p.m. semifinal match on Saturday against No. 2 Transylvania University.
The tournament will be hosted by Mount St. Joseph, which claimed the top seed by defeating Transylvania in four sets on Wednesday night.
Senior Anna Lewer (Indianapolis/Lutheran) led the offensive effort with eight kills, and junior Catherine Fiutem (Harrison, Ohio/Oldenburg Academy) added seven. Freshman Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) had a team-high 13 assists, with junior Kira Boswell (Ames, Iowa) providing 11.
Senior Erika McGuire (Indianapolis/Warren Central) led Rose-Hulman with two service aces, and junior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) recorded seven digs.
Rose-Hulman improved to 18-8 overall and 7-2 in league play, while Earlham stands 6-18 on the campaign.
