TERRE HAUTE, IND. - Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opens the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with a Tuesday night matchup against Hanover College at Hulbert Arena.
The 7:30 p.m. match features the fourth-seeded Fightin' Engineers (15-17 this season) and the fifth-seeded Hanover Panthers (14-15). Both teams finished 5-4 in conference play, but Rose-Hulman will host the match after a five-set win over Hanover earlier this season.
In the earlier meeting on Oct. 12, Hanover won the first two sets 25-23 and 25-21, before Rose-Hulman rallied to top the Panthers 25-22, 25-16, 15-11 in the final three sets.
Rose-Hulman's balanced offensive attack features five players with over 100 kills this season. Sarah Jensen leads the team with 314 kills and is tied for the NCAA Division III national lead with six triple-doubles so far this season. Casey Levitt has added 269 kills and 357 digs.
Morgan Dreyer leads Rose-Hulman with 642 assists and has added 202 digs and 139 kills. Kate Dangel ranks among the HCAC leaders with 571 digs this season.
Hanover sophomore Rachel Hasewinkel ranks second in the conference in kills (3.25/set) and Kylie Justus stands second in the league in digs (5.33/set) to pace the Panther defense.
Admission to Tuesday's match is $6, with Rose-Hulman and Hanover students, faculty and staff admitted free with valid identification. The winner of Tuesday's matchup will travel to Defiance for the HCAC Semifinal match on Saturday at 2 p.m.
