GREENCASTLE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opened the DePauw University Volleyball Invitational with a four-set win over Kalamazoo and a three-set loss to Millikin on Friday.

Rose-Hulman defeated Kalamazoo 27-25, 12-25, 25-19, 25-17 to open Friday night's action.  In the finale, Millikin captured a 27-25, 25-21, 25-19 victory.

In the Kalamazoo match, junior Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) led the Fightin' Engineers with 12 kills and four aces, while contributing 14 digs.  Senior Anna Lewer (Indianapolis/Lutheran) added 10 kills and 16 digs.

Junior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) led the defensive effort with 22 digs and had three aces.  Freshman Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) paced the passing effort with 30 assists.  Junior Kira Boswell (Ames, Iowa) had 12 assists and three aces, and junior Catherine Fiutem (Harrison, Ohio/Oldenburg Academy) contributed six total blocks.

In the Millikin match, Jensen and Levitt had eight kills each.  Jensen provided 10 assists, with Dangel providing 13 digs.  Boswell contributed eight assists and four service aces to the effort.

The Fightin' Engineers stand 7-4 on the season and will face Olivet at noon and Hanover at 2 p.m. on Saturday to cap the DePauw Invitational.
