Rose-Hulman Sweeps Homecoming Quad

lewer-killTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology rallied from two sets down to defeat Denison and topped Illinois College in three sets at the Homecoming Volleyball Quad on Saturday.

Rose-Hulman topped Denison 19-25, 21-25, 25-16, 25-16, 15-3, then defeated Illinois College 25-17, 25-20, 25-11 in the nightcap.

In the Denison match, senior Anna Lewer (Indianapolis/Lutheran) led the Engineers with 22 kills. This marks the most kills in a single match since 2007.

Kira Boswell (Ames, Iowa) contributed with 24 assists. Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan.) added in 21 assists of her own.

Lewer recorded a team-high 17 digs. Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) pitched in 16 digs.

In the Illinois College match, junior Catherine Fiutem (Harrison, Ohio) led the charge with nine kills, while Boswell had a game high 17 assists.

Lewer finished the match with 12 digs. Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) tallied 10 digs of her own.

Rose-Hulman improved to 10-6 on the season and returns to action on Wednesday at home against Anderson.
