HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology advanced to the
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament
semifinals with a 26-24, 25-19, 26-24 victory over Bluffton
University on Tuesday night at Hulbert Arena.
With the win, Rose-Hulman advances to the semifinal round at the College of Mount St. Joseph on Saturday. The Fightin' Engineers face No. 2 seeded Transylvania at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and the championship match for the winner will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Mount St. Joseph.
Junior Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) led the Engineer offense with 11 kills and just one error in 24 attacks. Senior Anna Lewer (Indianapolis/Lutheran) added 11 kills with just three errors.
Freshman Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) paced Rose-Hulman with 20 assists, with junior Kira Boswell (Ames, Iowa) adding 12. Junior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) pitched in with a team-high 14 digs.
Lewer had a team-high three service aces, and junior Catherine Fiutem (Harrison, Ohio/Oldenburg Academy) teamed up with Lewer to lead the squad with three blocks.
Rose-Hulman improved to 21-8 on the season, while Bluffton finished the campaign at 17-14.
