ANDERSON, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology improved to 12-4 overall and 2-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball action with a tightly contested win at Anderson University on Tuesday night.
Rose-Hulman captured a 25-21, 25-23, 25-22 victory over the host Ravens with clutch performances late in each set.
With the victory, Rose-Hulman has tied the best record in school history after 16 matches. The 2010 Fightin' Engineer squad also started the year with a 12-4 mark.
Junior Anna Lewer (Indianapolis/Lutheran) led the Engineers with 12 kills and 17 digs. Senior Morgan Williams (Fenton, Mich./Powers Catholic) contributed nine kills.
Senior Leah Pelzel (Loveland, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) paced the team with 31 assists and four service aces, while also tying for team-high honors with senior Karah Hickman (Hobart) with three blocks.
Sophomore Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) pitched in with 11 digs.
Anderson dropped to 9-5 overall and 1-1 in league play. The Fightin' Engineers hit the road for Transylvania University for matches against the host Pioneers and Asbury on Saturday.
