Tyler Hannan Named National Athlete of the Week

746-hannan-ustfcccaTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Tyler Hannan (Winchester, Ky./George Rogers Clark) has been named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Athlete of the Week for NCAA Division III after his efforts on Saturday.

Hannan was honored after earning two individual event victories and help two relay squads capture top honors at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships at Defiance College on Saturday.

Hannan won the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.88 seconds after winning the 400-meter dash in 50.41 seconds.  He also opened the meet by helping the 4-x-200 meter relay team capture top honors, then helped the 4-x-400 meter close the meet with a victory.  The 4-x-200 meter relay (1:30.92) also set a new school record in the performance.

Rose-Hulman won its third consecutive HCAC Indoor Championship due in part to Hannan's efforts on Saturday.  Individuals from the Fightin' Engineers will compete at Anderson University on Saturday.
