NAPERVILLE, ILL. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Liz Evans (Bicknell/North Knox) has been chosen to compete in the 2013 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships on Saturday at North Central College in Illinois.
Evans has earned the No. 1 seed in the women's high jump with a season best leap of 5' 10" (1.78 meters) at Rose-Hulman in early February. She also cleared 5' 10" on Saturday at Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Evans swept the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor National Championships for her third and fourth career national titles. The six-time All-American has also been named NCAA Great Lakes Region Athlete of the Year three times and the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Year five times in her career.
Evans has four career first-place finishes and two national runner-up honors in six previous appearances in NCAA National Championship meets. She would tie 2012 graduate Sutton Coleman as the most decorated All-American in Rose-Hulman history with seven awards with a top-eight finish on Saturday.
She also looks to become the first student-athlete in NCAA Division III history to win five consecutive national championships in the women's indoor and outdoor high jump. The competition takes place on Saturday at 11 a.m. Central Time.
The decorated Rose-Hulman track and field history includes 46 All-American awards, nine individual national championships and eight national runner-up efforts entering the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championships.
