NAPERVILLE, ILL. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology student-athletes recorded two strong individual
performances at the North Central Gregory Invitational on
Senior Derek Bischak (Angola) smashed his own
school record in the 1,500-meter run by nearly three seconds with a
time of 3:50.76 to place fourth overall in a nationally ranked
field. The effort ranks No. 10 nationally entering today's
final meets across the country.
Sophomore Liz Evans (Bicknell/North Knox)
reached the NCAA Division III automatic national qualification mark
for the fourth time this season to earn the women's high jump
victory. Evans cleared 5' 7 3/4" with the winning effort and
will enter the NCAA Division III Outdoor Nationals with the top
mark in the nation this season.
The 4-x-400 meter relay team of sophomore Brent Austgen
(Cedar Lake/Hanover Central), senior Paul Bouagnon
(St. Charles, Ill./Burlington Central), sophomore
Tyler Hannan (Winchester, Ky./George Rogers Clark)
and Coleman narrowly missed the NCAA provisional mark with a
time of 3:16.51. The Fightin' Engineers will hope their
previous time of as 3:15.21 will qualify for next week's NCAA
Division III National Championships.
