TERRE HAUTE, IND. - Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology captured
15 first-place honors and the men's squad convincingly captured the
team scoring in the Friday Night Invitational at the Sports and
The men's squad contributed 11 first-place honors to the
effort. Rose-Hulman also swept the first, second and third
spots in the 200-meter run, the 800-meter run, the 60-meter
hurdles, the shot put and the weight throw.
The Fightin' Engineers also established four school records
on the evening.
Individual winners in the running events for Rose-Hulman
included senior Jeremiah Edwards (Indianapolis/Lawrence
North) with a school record time of 7.01 seconds in the
60-meter dash; senior Sutton Coleman (Lebanon,
Va.) with a school record time in the 60-meter hurdles
(8.29 seconds) and a win in the 200-meters (22.92); junior
Tyler Hannan (Winchester, Ky./George Rogers Clark)
in the 400-meters (51.59 seconds); and freshman Stuart West
(LaPorte) in the 800-meter run (1:59.63).
Field event winners for the Rose-Hulman men included junior
Collin Crowson (Dublin, Ohio/Jerome) in the pole
vault (15' 0"); junior Greg Larmore (Deerfield,
Ill.) in the weight throw (49' 5 3/4"); senior
P.J. Schulthies (Dubois/Northeast Dubois) in the
shot put (46' 7 1/4"); and junior Travis Stallings
(Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) in the triple jump (41'
Rose-Hulman also swept the two men relay events on the
evening. The 4-x-200 meter squad included Hannan, Stallings,
sophomore Clay Becker (Gaylord, Mich./St. Mary
Cathedral) with a time of 1:32.51. The 4-x-400 meter
relay team of junior Brent Austgen (Cedar Lake/Hanover
Central), Hannan, Stallings and Coleman capped the night
with a victory in a time of 3:27.71.
The women's squad added four first place efforts.
Individual winners included junior Liz Evans
(Bicknell/North Knox) with a high jump leap of 5' 8 3/4"
and a school record time of 8.14 seconds in the 60-meter dash; and
junior Creasy Clauser (Crawfordsville/Southmont)
with a 400-meter dash time of 1:02.42.
The 4-x-400 relay team added a close victory in the final event
of the evening with the second best time in school history at
4:17.26. Team members included Clauser, junior Abby
Sowers (Delaware, Ohio/Bishop Watterson), freshman
Jessica Waldren (Indianapolis/Ben Davis) and
junior Gloria Boxell (Zionsville/Covenant
Boxell added a school record with a runner-up finish in the
60-meter high hurdles in a time of 9.84 seconds.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Engineer Invitational next
Saturday at the Sports and Recreation Center.
