TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Seven Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology women's tennis players were recognized by the Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference in post-season awards released
Sophomore Marie Stettler (Edgerton,
Wis./Senior), junior Sage Sackett (Kalamazoo,
Mich./Mattawan) and junior Melissa Montgomery
(Alexandria, Ind./Monroe) led the way with first-team
Honorable mention all-conference award winners included
sophomore Paige Cook (Terre Haute/North),
sophomore Lauren Reberger (Brazil/Northview) and
sophomore Colleen Stevenson (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba
Freshman Kylie McCollum (Lee's Summitt,
Mo./West) rounded out the award winners with a spot on the
league's all-sportsmanship team.
The effort helped Rose-Hulman finish 10-3 overall this spring,
including 8-1 in HCAC regular season play to earn a share of the
team's second consecutive conference women's tennis
Stettler finished 8-5 at the No. 1 singles position, including
5-4 in HCAC regular season play to improve her career singles
record to 24-11. In doubles play, Stettler finished 11-1
overall at primarily the No. 2 position.
Sackett compiled an 8-4 mark at the
No. 2 singles position and was 6-3 in
conference matches. She also finished with four wins at
the No. 1 doubles slot and has a career singles record of
Montgomery finished 10-3 in singles play and added five doubles
wins at the No. 1 position. Her mark included a 9-3 record at
No. 3 singles and her overall singles career record stands at
Cook recorded a perfect 9-0 record in HCAC singles and doubles
play as part of a 12-1 singles mark. She also finished 11-1
overall in doubles matches at primarily the No. 2 doubles slot.
Reberger played on the No. 3 doubles team and recorded a 9-3
overall record, including a 7-1 mark in HCAC matches.
Stevenson held down the No. 4 singles spot for Rose-Hulman with
a 7-4 record and stands 19-10 in her singles career.
McCollum made an immediate impact as a freshman with an 8-2
singles record and a 10-3 mark in doubles action.
