TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Transylvania University won a battle between two of the top Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tennis programs with a 6-3 victory over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Sunday.
The No. 3 doubles team of senior Lauren Reberger (Brazil/Northview) and freshman Sydney Short (Langley, Va./Grafton) earned the first win of the day for the Engineers.
In singles play, junior Kylie McCollum (Lee's Summit, Mo./West) won at the No. 5 position and sophomore Lauren Miller (Highland, Ill.) contributed a win at the No. 6 spot.
Transylvania won at the top four singles and top two doubles positions to move into first place in the HCAC standings. Rose-Hulman returns to action with a trip to Franklin College on Wednesday.
