Women's Tennis Finishes 7-1 in HCAC After Earlham Win

cook2TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology completed the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference season at 7-1 and improved to 10-2 overall with an 8-1 win at Earlham on Sunday.

Rose-Hulman will await the results of Wednesday's match between Franklin and Transylvania to determine its final seeding for next weekend's conference tournament.

If Transylvania defeats Franklin, Rose-Hulman would share the regular season conference championship and earn its third straight regular season title.

The winner of the six-team HCAC Tournament will receive a bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.  Rose-Hulman won the conference tournament title and made an NCAA appearance two seasons ago.

Junior Marie Stettler (Edgerton, Wis./Senior), senior Melissa Montgomery (Alexandria/Monroe), junior Paige Cook (Terre Haute/North), freshman Lauren Miller (Highland, Ill.), sophomore Kylie McCollum and junior Lauren Reberger (Brazil/Northview) led the way with a singles sweep against Earlham.

The second doubles team of Cook and sophomore Koharuko Fujita (Ishikawa, Japan/Izumigaoka) joined the third doubles team of McCollum and Reberger with wins at Earlham.

Rose-Hulman will compete in the HCAC Tournament on Saturday in Indianapolis.  The championship match is scheduled for Sunday in Indianapolis.
