SchoumacherNORTH MANCHESTER, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology defeated Manchester to clinch the second seed for the upcoming Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament. 

Michael Schoumacher (Memphis, Tenn./White Station) also became the first men's tennis player to achieve 100 victories in his career.

Schoumacher teamed with senior Scott Grubbs (Wildwood, Mo./ Lafayette) at No. 1 doubles to defeat the Manchester pair 8-2, earning his 100th career match victory at Rose-Hulman.  He also won at his No. 3 Singles position.

Grubbs also grabbed a victory at No. 2 singles.

Freshman Ben Paras (Tucson, Ariz./Nordhoff),  junior Alex Gumz (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd)  and junior David Becerra (Brownsburg/ Covenant Christian)  each earned singles and doubles victories to lead the Rose-Hulman effort.

Junior Seth Hendrickson (Crawfordsville) contributed a win at No. 6 singles, and Bacerra joined junior Brent Frizzell (Avon) for a victory at the No. 3 doubles slot.

Rose-Hulman stands 8-7 overall and 5-2 in conference play. The team returns to action April 20th to face Greenville College.
