TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's swimming and diving team is ranked No. 24 in the NCAA Division III Endless Pools/CollegeSwimming,.com National Top 25 poll, in results released by the organization on Tuesday.
Rose-Hulman established 11 men's school records at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships last weekend. The effort included five conference championships and a third-place team finish behind perennial top 25 powers Wheaton (Ill.) and Carthage.
Freshman Orion Martin (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) and senior John Huster (Terre Haute/North) automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships with the best two marks in school history in the 100-yard butterfly. Martin won the 100-butterfly title with the best NCAA Division III time nationally this season (48.51 seconds), with Huster just behind at 48.99.
Senior Matt Ross (West Lafayette/Harrison) added a victory with a new school record in the 200-butterfly (1:51.51), and the Fightin' Engineers won the 200-medley, 400-medley and 400-freestyle relay events.
Martin and Huster will head to Shenandoah, Texas, on March 20-23 for the NCAA Division III National Championships.
