TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior John Huster (Terre Haute/North) (pictured at left) and freshman Orion Martin (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) (pictured at right) will compete in the upcoming NCAA Division III Swimming Championships starting Wednesday.
Martin and Huster both qualified for the NCAA national championships with their 1-2 performance in the 100-butterfly at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships.
Martin ranks No. 2 nationally in the 100-butterfly with a time of 48.51 seconds, and Huster stands in the No. 11 position at 48.99 seconds. The time cutoff for selection into the meet was 49.33 seconds. Competition in the 100-butterfly will take place on Thursday.
Martin will also compete in the 50-freestyle on Wednesday and the 100-freestyle on Saturday during the Championships. Huster's remaining two events will be the the 200-individual medley on Wednesday and the 100-backstroke on Friday.
Martin and Huster continue a tradition of excellence for the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology swimming program. The Fightin' Engineers have compiled six All-American awards in swimming, including a 100-breaststroke national championship for Matt Smith in 2003.
