Ellie Hong Named National Swimmer of the Week

225-hongTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology freshman Ellie Hong (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) has been named the Collegeswimming.com NCAA Division III National Women's Swimmer of the Week for her efforts against Franklin College last weekend.

Hong shattered a school record in the 100-freestyle (54.18) by nearly a second and recorded another sub-one minute time in the 100-backstroke (59.13) to highlight the women's performance in the final home meet of the season.

Her efforts also included a strong lead off leg of 27.41 in the 200 medley relay. Hong was the only Rose Hulman women's swimmer to post an individual victory in a swimming event against Franklin.

Hong's honor marks the first time that a Rose-Hulman women's swimmer has been named the collegeswimming.com National Swimmer of the Week.  Men's sophomore Orion Martin claimed the first ever Fightin' Engineer National Swimmer of the Week award two weeks ago.

Rose-Hulman returns to action on Dec. 7-8 at Transylvania University.
