COMPLETE RESULTS
FRANKLIN, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology swept top honors in every event in the men's competition, and the women dropped a narrow one point decision to Transylvania at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Invitational.
The Fightin' Engineers captured first place honors in all 16 events in the four-team meet that featured Transylvania, Franklin and Defiance. On the women's side, Transylvania topped the Engineers by the narrowest of margins by a 189-188 count.
Freshman Tai Enrico (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) led the Fightin' Engineers with three individual first-place finishes. Enrico brought home top honors in the 100-backstroke (56.98), the 200-backstroke (2:01.52) and the 200-individual medley (2:03.74).
Five Rose-Hulman swimmers captured first-place honors in two events each. Freshman Sam Gould (Greencastle/South Putnam) swept the one-meter (214.75) and three-meter (220.35) diving titles.
Freshman Matt King (Libertyville, Ill.) won the 500-freestyle (4:53.25) and the 1650-freestyle (16:32.32). Freshman Orion Martin (Dublin, Ohio/Coffman) added top honors in the 100-butterfly (51.37) and the 200-freestyle (1:45.04). Junior Andrew Podgorski (Goshen) earned first place in the 100-freestyle (49.06) and 100-breaststroke (1:02.00).
Freshman Stephanie Wolfersberger (Whiteland) led the women's effort with sweeps of the 50-freestyle (26.01) and the 100-freestyle (58.38). The women's effort also included a win by the 400 freestyle relay team of sophomore Laura Danhauer (Barrington, Ill.), freshman Chelsea Rossick (Middletown, Md.), freshman Casey Troccoli (Schaumburg, Ill./James B. Conant) and Wolfersberger in a time of 3:55.29.
Freshman Regen Foote (Jasper) rounded out the women's winners by winning the one-meter diving competition with a score of 199.20 points.
Other individual winners for the men's squad included senior John Huster (Terre Haute/North) in the 50-freestyle (22.39); senior Matt Ross (West Lafayette/Harrison) in the 200-butterfly (2:02.51); and junior Logan Ryan (Kent, Wash./Kentwood Senior) in the 200-breaststroke (2:16.60).
The Fightin' Engineers also swept both men's relay events. The 200-medley team included Huster, Martin, Podgorski and freshman Paul Hintz (Pickerington, Ohio) with a time of 1:37.80. The same four swimmers combined to win the 400-freestyle relay in 3:15.48.
Rose-Hulman hosts DePauw University in the Senior Day meet next Saturday at the Sports and Recreation Center.
