Rose-Hulman Claims Nine First Place Finishes vs. DePauw


RossTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology claimed nine first place finishes to highlight the team's overall performance against nationally ranked DePauw University on Friday.

DePauw claimed the dual meet victories by counts of 183-132 on the men's side and 200-46 in women's action.

Sophomores John Huster (Terre Haute/North Vigo) and Matt Ross (West Lafayette/Harrison) each won two events to lead the men's swimming effort.

Huster claimed the 100-butterfly in a time of 52.75 seconds and also captured the 100-backstroke in 53.79 seconds.  Ross earned top honors in the 200-butterfly (1:58.93) and the 400-individual medley (4:27.75).

Other winners for the men's squad included freshman James Landry (Grayslake, Ill./North) with a time of 2:00.92 in the 200-yard backstroke; and freshman Logan Ryan (Kent, Wash./Kentwood Senior) in the 200-breaststroke (2:16.45).

On the women's side, sophomore Nicole Richardson (Janesville, Wis./George Parker) swept the one- and three-meter diving events to pace Rose-Hulman's performance.  Richardson scored 204.10 points in three-meter diving and added 193.25 in the one-meter event.

Freshman Stephanie McCown (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) led the swimming effort with a victory in the 400-individual medley in a time of 5:32.30.

Rose-Hulman hosts Butler University and IUPUI in the team's Senior Day meet on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Sports and Recreation Center.
