Kevin Robinson enters his fourth year as head women's golf and assistant women's basketball coach at Rose-Hulman.
Robinson helped the Engineers tie a school record with the best conference finish in women's golf program history in 2012. The Fightin' Engineers placed third with a squad comprised entirely of freshmen and sophomores.
The number of all-conference performers in Rose-Hulman women's golf history has doubled in Robinson's three years with the program. Hayley Vonder Haar became the latest all-conference player for the Fightin' Engineers in 2012, marking the second consecutive year that a freshman has earned all-league honors.
Robinson helped the Engineers compile a fourth-place finish in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's golf championships in his first season in 2010. Two players, Lindsey Gault and Allison Luther, recorded career-best 18 and 36-hole performances within a two-week span of working with Coach Robinson.
On the women's basketball side, Robinson helped the Fightin' Engineers earn their first postseason tournament win in program history with a victory over Manchester in the 2012 HCAC Tournament. The team has qualified for the HCAC Tournament during all three of Robinson's years as assistant coach, including a 2013 squad that had the third-best record in school history.
Robinson's coaching career contains significant accomplishments in both golf and basketball. Over five seasons as a basketball coach at Bluffton High School in South Carolina, he led the junior varsity squad to a 59-27 record. During his tenure at Bluffton, eight former players earned all-region honors, one player was named all-state and nine players went on to collegiate basketball careers.
Robinson's golf career has included work as a senior assistant golf professional at some of the nation's top courses. His career stops have included Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, South Carolina, ranked 38th nationally by Golfweek magazine in its list of America's best classical golf courses; Lost Dunes Golf Club in Bridgman, Michigan, ranked 41st by Golfweek magazine in its listing of America's best modern golf courses; The Bay Club at Mattapoisett in Massachusetts; Whisper Rock Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona; and most recently, The Landings Club in Savannah, Georgia.
His playing career includes winning the 2002 Yeamans Hall Club Pro-Member crown, the 2002 Charleston Open Qualifier and the 2004 Lost Dunes Invitational. Other top finishes included a third place at the 2005 Hilton Head PGA Championship, seventh place at the 2005 Hilton Head Open, 15th at the 2006 New England PGA Assistants Championship and a 34th place at the 2006 New England PGA Championship. His lowest competitive round was a score of 68 at the 2006 New England Open.
A PGA of America member, Robinson earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Western Carolina University and served on the PGA of America's President's Council on Growing the Game in 2007 and 2010. He is also a member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association of America.
