TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology sophomore Marissa Stout was recently honored as WTHITV News Channel 10's April "Make a Difference Award Winner" for her efforts off the field.
Stout (Terre Haute, Ind./South Vigo), a second baseman and pitcher for the Fightin' Engineers' softball team, was nominated for the annual "Swing for a Cure" softball tournament she helped create and organize to raise money for those battling cancer in the Wabash Valley.
The tournament made $4,000 in 2012. This past year, it raised more than $19,000.
