TERRE HAUTE, IND. --
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology captured both the Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week
awards in softball after the team's trip to Florida last week.
Freshman Jessica Ahlborn (Houghton, Mich./Houghton-Portage Twp.) earned HCAC Hitter of the Week honors, while junior Brianne Widmoyer (Elkhart, Ind./Central) claimed the Pitcher of the Week award.
Ahlborn finished the week 5-for-14 (.357) with two runs scored, two doubles, and four RBI, while posting an on-base percentage of .471 to pace the Rose-Hulman offense.
Widmoyer
finished the week 2-2 on the mound for the Engineers to lead the
team's pitching effort. The junior tossed four complete games
and one shutout in four starts during the Engineers' Florida
trip. Widmoyer tossed a complete game two-hitter against
Johnson & Wales in a 4-0 win, recording 18 strikeouts and a
2.59 earned run average in 27 innings of work.
Rose-Hulman stands 2-6 on the season and returns to action at the Centre College Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
