Faber1TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology seniors Allison Faber (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) and Kayla Yano (Ontario, Ore.) earned second-team all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors in softball, in results released today.

Faber led Rose-Hulman in batting average at .347 with 33 hits, eight doubles and a school record six home runs this season.  She also led the team in on-base percentage (.415), slugging percentage (.642) and fielding percentage as the team's starting catcher (.984). 

Faber's efforts also included a career school record eight home runs at Rose-Hulman.  She also claimed the Rose-Hulman Varsity R Club Senior of the Year Award, declaring the top senior season among Engineer female student-athletes, at the athletic honors banquet on Tuesday.

Yano2Yano batted .283 with 30 hits, eight doubles and 14 RBIs in 34 starts at second base this season.  She completes her career with 126 starts in 129 appearances and ranks No. 6 in school history in fielding assists (153).  Yano also ranks 10th in school history with her 129 apperances.

Her efforts also included 84 career hits, 16 doubles, 38 RBIs and 31 runs scored.  The Engineers also won the 2008 regular season conference championship with both Faber and Yano on the roster.

Rose-Hulman finished 13-21 overall and 6-10 in HCAC softball conference play this season.
