BOX SCORES (TO COME):
MICHIGAN-DEARBORN / ROCHESTER TECH / FERRUM

Heibel-acCLERMONT, FLA. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology finished 1-2 on a busy softball Thursday that included a bonus game due to a rainout earlier this week.

Rose-Hulman defeated Michigan-Dearborn 6-1, then fell 1-0 to Rochester Institute of Technology in game two.  Ferrum topped the Engineers 15-3 in the third game of the day.

Rose-Hulman relied on a five-run first inning to earn a 6-1 win over Michigan-Dearborn.  Freshman Whitney Strain (St. Charles, Mo./Orchard Farm) had two singles and three RBIs to lead four players with multiple hits.

Senior Brianne Widmoyer (Elkhart/Central) pitched in with two singles, two stolen bases, two runs scored and one RBI.  Sophomore Carly Heibel (Fort Wayne/Lakewood Park) added a single, double, one run, one stolen base and one RBI.  Sophomore Jessica Ahlborn (Houghton, Mich.) also contributed two hits and one run to the effort.

Freshman Taylor Lockhart (Robinson, Ill./Oblong) benefited with a complete-game win in the pitching circle in her college debut.  Lockhart scattered five singles with one walk and four stikeouts in the victory.

In the second game of the day, Rochester Institute of Technology scored the game's lone run in the second inning.  Alissa Dixon had the complete game win with eight strikeouts.  Heibel allowed just four hits and one run with four strikeouts in the pitching circle, and provided a single for the lone Rose-Hulman hit.

Against Ferrum, four players had two hits each.  Ahlborn, Heibel and junior Allison Bowman (Fort Wayne/Snider) each had two singles and scored one run.  Widmoyer also had two singles and two RBIs.

Rose-Hulman stands 3-3 overall and concludes its Florida trip with matchups against Ferrum and Johnson and Wales on Friday.
