heibel-taylorTERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman earned a 5-4 victory in extra innings, before falling 10-0 in the nightcap to Taylor University on Friday night at the Engineer Softball Field.

Rose-Hulman scored twice in the eighth inning to capture a 5-4 victory in game one.

Taylor jumped out to a 4-3 with one run in the eighth inning, before a double by sophomore Carly Heibel (Fort Wayne/Lakewood Park Christian) tied the score at 4-4.  After a passed ball, junior Allison Bowman (Fort Wayne/Snider) hit a game winning sacrifice fly to score Heibel with the winning run.

Heibel led the offensive effort with three hits, including two doubles, and two runs scored.  Sophomore Jessica Ahlborn (Houghton, Mich.), freshman Whitney Strain (St. Charles, Mo./Orchard Farm) and senior Alyse Mueller (Belleville, Ill./West) each had one single and scored one run.

Heibel pitched six innings in the circle, scattering six hits with no earned runs allowed to pick up the win.

In the nightcap, Hannah Klebesadel and Holly Tomaszewski combined for a no-hitter in the 10-0 win by Taylor.

Rose-Hulman stands 4-6 on the season and returns to action with a 1 p.m. home doubleheader against Illinois College on Saturday.
