DECATUR, ILL. -- Millikin University scored in the bottom of the
ninth inning to defeat Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 3-2 in
game one of Sunday's softball doubleheader and carried the momentum
to a 7-1 victory in game two.
In game one, Rose-Hulman was led by Alyse Mueller
(Belleville, Ill./West) and Briane Widmoyer
(Elkhart, Ind./Central) who both had two hits.
Mueller also scored a run as well as batted one in.
Widmoyer added a run.
Millikin scored in the first inning to take an early 1-0
The Engineers took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. A
Mueller double scored Widmoyer to start the inning. Mueller

The Big Blue answered to tie the game in the fifth inning and
finished the game when a double by Colleen Bryan scored the
game-winning run in extra innings for the 3-2 final.
The Engineers rebounded quickly in game two and
took a 1-0 lead after the top of the first with sophomore
Jenna Martinek (Troy, Mo./Troy Buchanan) scoring
off a Widmoyer single. Millikin responded with a three run
first inning to carry them to the 7-1 victory
Rose-Hulman stands 4-12 on the season while Millikin is now
9-7. Rose-Hulman returns home for the HCAC opener on
Wednesday at 5 p.m. when the Fightin' Engineers face
#1 in the nation for 15 years!
