GAME 1 BOX SCORE; GAME 2 BOX SCORE

Faber2CLERMONT, FLA. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned its first victory of the 2011 softball season with a 6-4 win over Johnson and Wales, before dropping a 12-3 decision to Adrian in the nightcap.

Four Rose-Hulman players slapped two hits each to lead the offense in the game one victory.  Freshman Allison Bowman (Fort Wayne/Snider) led the Engineer offense with two hits, including a double, and three runs scored.

Other multiple hit games for the Engineers included sophomore Brianne Widmoyer (Elkhart/ Central) with two singles and two runs scored; senior Allison Faber (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) with a triple, single, two runs and two RBIs; and freshman Mary Schultz (Harrison, Ohio) with two singles and one RBI.

The offensive effort helped Widmoyer earn the pitching victory with a complete game in the circle.  Widmoyer tossed all seven innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Schultz led the offensive effort with a two-run double.  Faber added a single and scored one run for the Engineers, while Adrian recorded 18 hits to earn the victory.

Rose-Hulman stands 1-5 overall and completes its Florida trip against Northwestern (Minn.) and a rematch with Adrian on Friday.
