Manchester College improved to 5-5 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic
Conference softball play with a 13-1 and 12-7 sweep over
Rose-Hulman on Sunday.
In the nightcap, Manchester scored six times in the second and three times in the fourth and sixth frames to hold off Rose-Hulman's offensive effort.
Sophomore Brianne Widmoyer (Elkhart/Central) led the Rose-Hulman offense with three hits in game two.
Freshman Mary Schultz (Harrison, Ohio) slapped a double among two hits with one run and one RBI. Freshman Allison Bowman (Fort Wayne/Snider) added two singles and two RBIs, with senior Kyla Lutz (Tennyson/Boonville) recording two hits and two RBI.
Senior Allison Faber (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) contributed a double and scored three times.
In the opener, Manchester scored six times in the third and five times in the fourth to secure the win. Faber finished 2-2 at the plate with a double and one run for the Engineers.
Rose-Hulman stands 10-18 overall and 3-7 in league play, while Manchester improved to 14-18 and 5-5 in conference games. The Engineers host Franklin College in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference twinbill on Tuesday at 5.
