GAME 1 BOX SCORE; GAME 2 BOX SCORE

Yano1CLERMONT, FLA.-- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology dropped decisions to NCAA Division II Lake Superior State 6-2 and NAIA foe Goshen 9-3 to open the 2011 softball season on Monday.

In the opener, senior Kayla Yano (Ontario, Ore.) (pictured)  led the offense effort with two singles and one run scored.  Sophomore Brianne Widmoyer (Elkhart/Central) added a double and scored one run for the Engineers.

Senior Kyla Lutz (Tennyson/ Boonville) tossed a complete game in the opener and scattered six hits.

In the Goshen matchup, freshman Jenna Martinek (Troy, Mo./Buchanan) slapped three singles with one run scored, and Widmoyer had two hits with two runs scored and a double to pace the offensive effort.

Rose-Hulman stands 0-2 on the season and returns to action against Marywood and Alma on Tuesday.
