TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Two members of the Rose-Hulman women's soccer team captured Capital One academic all-district honors in results released today by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Senior Rachel Johnstone (Loveland, Ohio) and sophomore Mallory McDevitt (Wapakoneta, Ohio) were chosen to the first-team NCAA Division III academic all-district seven squad.
Both Johnstone and McDevitt will advance to the Capital One national ballot, with the Academic All-America Team scheduled for release on November 22.
Johnstone has started in 14 games and appeared in 17 in the midfield for Rose-Hulman this season. The outside midfielder has scored two goals with one assist this fall, increasing her career totals to nine goals and five assists in 70 matches.
In the classroom, the chemical engineering major carries a 3.90 grade point average and has now earned her third Capital One Academic All-District award in her career.
McDevitt has started all 18 games at defender this season after earning second-team all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors as a freshman. The electrical engineering is a defender for a team that ranks second nationally in overall save percentage entering this week's matches.
In the classroom, the electrical engineering major has a 4.00 grade point average and is a member of the Society of Women Engineers.
Rose-Hulman stands 10-4-4 overall this season and hosts Manchester University in the Senior Day match on Saturday at 1. The Fightin' Engineers have already secured a spot in next week's HCAC Tournament.
